Certainly rare for the brand to combine metals, it has been done on some historical construction, more frequent in the Royal Oak and Offshore. While the numbers are very low on the production, there were actually only eight that had the combination of two types of gold. Combination of gold and steel was more common, but the combining of the gold alloys is unusual and rare. Prior to 1970 Audemars Piguet had only one watch that combined white and pink gold. The cases and dials needed to have more of a relationship, and reflect the same quality of construction that each deserved. Normally the watch crystal is something that visually disappears, but the double curved crystal in this collection is one that seems invisible when looking straight on, but if you view from an angle you can see the very detailed tiered effect that has been crafted. So while it might not be the timepiece for everyone, it fills the tradition for the brand as they work for innovation but strive for tradition.
