Since 1912, Montegrappa has been manufacturing writing implements in the same historic building on the bank of the River Brenta. Founded as a “Manifattura pennini d’oro e penne stilografiche” (“Manufacturer of gold nibs and fountain pens”) during a turbulent period in Italy’s history, Montegrappa was a by-product of the region’s social history. Montegrappa pens have played their part in history, for signing documents during key moments in the 20th Century. Highly desirable pens such as the coveted Dragon have attracted and inspired notable collectors, which include heads-of-state, popes, royalty, actors, musicians, artists, sportsmen, top models, writers and celebrities.
A rebirth to write home about.
On the tenth anniversary of the Montegrappa Tributo ad A. Modigliani Limited Edition dedicated to the Dragon, Montegrappa is creating a valuable duo of oriental mythology by giving the Dragon its traditional companion, Montegrappa Eternal Bird: Feng Huang, the phoenix, which can rise reborn from its own ashes.
Today the symbol of rebirth and the individual spirit and always the symbol of the eternal death and rebirth of nature through the cycle of the seasons, the immortal bird appears with slight modifications in many far-flung transformations, through its constant association with the sun and with fire. Montegrappa has commissioned the same artist who gave life to the Dragon to create the sculpture of the Eternal Bird fountain pen, reproduced on the pen body with the sophisticated technique of die-casting. Limited Edition of 1,912!
