The Bovet Virtuoso VIII 10-Day Flying Tourbillon Big Date Watch celebrates the 195th anniversary of the company. While the company holds to traditional values, they also work to make strides in watchmaking, keeping the artisanal craft growing. This timepiece is part of the Fleurier Grandes Complications Collection which is dedicated to that growth and innovation that keeps the brand in the forefront of watchmaking.
This timepiece is certainly not traditional, it is the first in the line to reprise an inclined crystal aperture along the 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock axis, the unique design that slopes, with a taper that starts thick and gets thinner. A concept like this showscases the craftmanship and mechanical brillance the brand has developed, as well as creating new ways for calibre architecture techniques, and display functions and decoration. Each of the creative innovations the movement on this timepiece reflects has inspired so many others, in addition to three of the patents introduced in 2015 and pioneered by the Braveheart Tourbillon. This timepiece captures the heart of the brand and certainly expresses the traditions they hold dear since 1822.
The Bovet Virtuoso VIII 10-Day Flying Tourbillon Big Date Watch is manufactured using a single barrel, and architectureal calibre with a full plate and bridges hollowed out to create a series of scrolls. The brand has demonstrated their expert skills in horological design and this timepiece is constructed with every aspect. The timepiece case is available in three materials: 18k red gold, 18k white gold and platinum. The 44mm width and 13.45mm thickness of the watch makes it elegant, but large and certainly unique with the lug structure and outstanding wrist appeal.
The really creative feature of the timepiece is the way the design is both classic and elegant but ornate and stylish. With the ability to choose dials, from black lacquer, ivory or blue aventurine, you can really customize the design to your personality. The movement of course is the 17BM03-GD and with the 10-day power reserve you don’t need to worry about winding, and with the spherical differential it halves the required turns. Practicality is a big feature on the Virtuoso VIII, and the big date is an excellent example with adjustment by simply pressing the crown.
While some folks are not Bovet lovers, it is hard not to love this timepiece and with a limited edition of only 80 pieces, you will want to get one quickly, then you can be the envy of everyone you meet.
