Year after year since 1931 Jaeger-LeCoultre has allowed their passion to fuel new additions to the Reverso Collection and now at the 2014 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie watch fair in Geneva the brand has returned the timepiece to form and it is in the best shape ever. The foundation that built this remarkable timepiece has remained true to the design and each and every model that has graced the collections.
Sometimes when a brand introduces new additions to a series it loses the base inspiration and heritage of the original, but that is not the case here. This year the Grande Day & Night is powered by a new automatic caliber, and is ultra-thin, but still is connected to the roots of the original. In reality, it is such that when a person wants to explore the series, they can't just pick one, they have to look at the entire series as a whole, and the brand in order to appreciate the relationship.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Collection release of the pink-gold model featuring the chocolate dial was inspired by the 1934 version and there is another planned release for later this year that draws its inspiration from the 1948 timepiece. As each anniversary approaches it is like the brand strives to build on the existing strong foundation, and remain connected to the history of these amazing timepieces.
In 1991 the brand launched this limited series 500 piece edition to honor the watch's sixtieth anniversary, and then another ten years later that was manufactured with a thicker case and larger bezel, as well as a platinum version that showcased a beautiful guilloche dial. Expanding through the years, the series introduced a variety of case sizes and thicknesses, as well as numerous limited editions. The brand knew that it needed to regain form and break away from the iconic identity, and get back to the roots.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has really infused the Reverso collection with new life and at the same time they have reinforced their foundation around the globe. The different versions found their heritage from the early pieces and as Stephane Belmont, the Creative Marketing Director said, you must have patience and vision to allow a collection to develop and grow. The design team has shown focus and direction with these releases, and they certainly have cultivated a series that will now continue to expand, and grow in popularity around the globe.
