Panerai Radiomir 1940 Limited Edition Chronograph
The brand has introduced many watches previously, but the Panerai Radiomir 1940 Limited Edition Chronograph is a spectacular new design that has been presented in three amazing metals, red gold, platinum and white gold. Each of the designs is complete with its own unique dial, and to capture the essence of the era, the retro style combines hands and classic case to complete the timepiece aesthetics. The inner workings of this masterpiece feature a modified Minerva movement that is superior to all the previous movements.
The three special watches all share similar characteristics, however they are each very unique and stand alone with what each brings to the table. The designs were crafted with 45mm cases, and each feature a sub-seconds dial sitting at 9 o'clock, and a minutes totaler at 3 o'clock. The creative vintage style tachymeter scale circles the edge and allows the sub-dials to be very well situated. Really focusing on the unique aspect of the timepieces, the new models use plexiglass crystals instead of the sapphire crystals, a throwback to the original that was crafted for the Royal Italian Navy.
The mechanical brilliance of the Panerai Radiomir 1940 is created using the OP XXV calibre, a column-wheel chronograph with an amazing 55 hour power reserve that is founded on the Minerva 13-22. The Minerva movements are held in high regard for their technical superiority, and have been aligned with the brand since the early 1920's. With the case back displaying the inner workings, the movement can be shared with the world.
The hand-wound movement crafted by the Swiss manufacturer and supplied to the Florentine brand features construction that is of the highest technical merit, the quality and precision that is created in the column wheel, the swan-neck regulator, and the detail of the components each with chamfering and polishing, along with the Cotes de Geneve finish of the bridges.
The subtlety of the design differences with each of the three timepieces marks them with a distinct personal identity and makes the limited edition even more valuable. The simplistic style of each piece brings elegance and extraordinary character to them attracting collectors as well as those looking for vintage exquisite timepieces. The dials are what create the unique aspect of each, and coordinates with the metal of the case.
The red-gold version of the Panerai Radiomir 1940 is sporting a brown dial with the combination of graphic hour markers, Roman and Arabic numerals that have been dubbed the name California. The platinum version is crafted with an ivory dial, a wonderfully simple baton or dot hour markers and this design graces the black and white gold version. The white gold versions dial showcases a sandwich structure, two superimposed plates situated with luminous material between them, and visible through holes that correspond to the hour markers.
Collectors are lining up for the limited edition watches, 100 of the gold versions and 50 of the platinum. Finished with alligator straps and the seal of the brand to recognize the quality and reliability that has been manufactured within.
