Panerai Watch Novelties of 2011

Giovanni Panerai founded the luxury watch company, Officine Panerai, in 1860 in Florence, Italy. Quickly building a reputation for quality craftsmanship, Giovanni Panerai’s status as a fine quality watchmaker allowed him to be in touch with some of the most prestigious Swiss watch manufacturers. Eventually, Giovanni was succeeded by his son, Leon Francesco, and the family business continued to flourish throughout the 19th Century. Giovanni Panerai’s grandson, Guido, expanded the family business, focusing on high precision mechanisms. This additional focus allowed Panerai to become the official supplier to the Royal Italian Navy in 1900 and to continue the company’s dominance in the industry into the 20th Century. The boutique shop Guido opened that year can still be seen today, and the words "Orologeria Svizzera" – Swiss Watchmaker – can still be seen above the door. More than 200 after Giovanni’s foray into luxury watch-making, Officine Panerai is still creating precision mechanical devices that serve both the demand of functionality and the desire for style, offering their quality to yet another century of luxury timepiece connoisseurs. Panerai has announced their novelties for 2011, watches made from some of the most unique and finely crafted materials available. Panerai watches are the height of luxury, known throughout the world. To be the owner of a Panerai watch indicates an unparalleled level of taste and style. In homage to their service to the Royal Italian Navy, one of the premiere Panerai novelties of 2011 is the introduction of bronze. The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo 47mm has a bronze case that is not only resistant to corrosion but also has incredible structure. The bronze case gives the watch a rich hue, complimented by the green dial color. The unique quality of bronze allows each piece to become personalized over time as the bronze reacts with the atmosphere as it ages. Also new for 2011 from Panerai Pam is the Panerai Composite, created by a special process that creates a case that is surprisingly light, strong, and durable. While this material has been commonly used in airplanes and space shuttles, only Officine Panerai had the foresight to realize how significant the material could be in creating an unusually durable but light luxury watch. The Panerai Luminor watch collection, including the Panerai Luminor Composite Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic 44mm and the Panerai Luminor Composite 1950 3 Days 47mm are made of Panerai Composite. Finally for 2011, the renowned Panerai watch company is introducing the new Panerai Radiomir 8 Days Ceramica 45 mm. This Panerai watch features a brilliantly designed case made of zirconium oxide. Zirconium oxide is a synthetic ceramic created using a specialized isostatic process. This carefully created ceramic material is highly durable and extremely resistant to wear, corrosion, and high temperatures. The Panerai Luminor Marina, Panerai Radiomir, Panerai Luminor, and other Panerai watches, including Panerai submersible watches, are all available at World of Luxury.
