A. Lange & Sohne Langematik Perpetual in White Gold

Marking the launch of the first Russian boutique in Moscow, A. Lange & Sohne introduces the Langematik Perpetural in White Gold. Following two previous versions, one in pink gold and the other in platinum, this latest beauty is complimented with a black dial, and features the date, day of the week, and the month. This series was the world's first timepiece with self-winding movement.

Similar to the other models, this new timepiece showcases a dial made of solid silver, this one with a black lacquer finish that provides a lovely backdrop for the luminous hands and rhodiumed-gold appliques. The inside of the watch offers the proven automatic Sax-O-Mat calibre L922.1 that of course has the patented zero-rest mechanism. The 38.5 mm case has an exquisite polished finish and brushed side, and is only 10.2 mm thick.

The Langematik Perpetual is crafted with three recessed pushers, sitting on the left at 8, 9, and 10 o'clock, with a fourth that is placed at 4 o'clock. The rotor is created from 21-carat gold, and a platinum centrifugal mass, winding a bidirectional mainspring. A. Lange & Sohne used classic Saxon watchmaking elements in this remarkable timepiece and a specific geometrical layout.

Every detail of this watch is a masterful creation. As you look into the sapphire case back you get the first look at that amazing rotor, and with a closer look, the centrifugal mass is labeled Platin, translated Das ist cool. The 46 hour power reserve is key to the efficient mechanism and will need correction only once every 100 years, which is totally mind blowing. The moon phase has been developed in the most striking shade of blue, and has been so cleverly designed it only deviates from the true moon position by one day every 122.6 years.

In true fashion for A. Lange & Sohne has placed the oversized date right under XII and is finished off with a luxurious black hand stitched crocodile strap, and white-gold prong buckle. If you are looking for an elegant and extravagant timepiece that really will last a lifetime, then this is the one for you, and you can pass it on to your children, just remember to tell them to reset it at the century mark. For collectors this piece along with the other versions is a must for simple beauty alone. A timepiece that offers a classic look with a future in reliability.
