Watch makers always strive for excellence and want to provide timepieces that can stand up to stress and take them to multiple time zones, and be accurate. Bulgari is one of those watch makers that wants to deliver quality with luxury. This modern version of their classic GMT timepiece is now presented as part of the Aluminum collection, the Aluminium GMT Amerigo Vespucci Special Edition Watch in honor of the Italian explorer who identified the land Columbus discovered as a continent and not part of Asia. America, originated from Amerigo, is honored by the brand, as well as the naval ship that bears his name.
Time Honored
The luxury brand wanted to pay homage to the great Italian, but also to honor the traditions that are showcased in design and color. The 40mm x 9.7mm case is exclusively made of aluminum, and features a matte black brand engraved specific rubber bezel. Contrasting the striking silver case is the DLC coated titanium crown, and the inner bezel that is showcased in black and yellow split finish, a tribute to the iconic colors of the ship. The movement is an in-house B192 automatic-winding powerhouse and special edition GMT which is comprised of a 26 jewel construction, that houses the 50 hour power reserve. The covered back case has special engravings to signify the limited edition 1000 pieces.
Time And Time Again
Bulgari has taken great strides in insuring the timepiece will survive the long distant marine travels, and finished the beauty with a robust black rubber strap that also includes the brand logo. The Aluminium GMT Amerigo Vespucci Special Edition Watch has a maximum depth of 100m and a dial that is easy to read, and of course has gold coloring that enhances the GMT bezel. The deep black dial is spectacular in design, and a perfect contrast to the golden minutes track and details that have been constructed on the hands. As the engraved back states “Not he who begins, but who preserves” a statement that is fitting for the brand and the timepieces that they strive to design and deliver.
