Chronoswiss Debuts Limited Edition Open Gear Tourbillon Watch

Swiss Chrono Tourbillons

Chronoswiss was founded in 1983, and has built a strong reputation on their very distinct and unique regulator timepieces.  The independent brand is based in Lucerne and this year is celebrating a 20th anniversary of their very first tourbillon equipped regulator model.  Through the years the brand has faced some good times and some bad, but really has picked up steam in showcasing watches that really draw on their historical strengths.  This new Chronoswiss Limited Edition Open Gear Tourbillon Watch is striking and certainly a beautiful example of the complex escapement and great horological craftsmanship the brand brings.

Classic Excellence

This 44mm stainless steel case featured on the Chronoswiss Limited Edition Open Gear Tourbillon Watch has taken the very attractive details from the signature case design, allowing for long slim downward angled lugs, a large onion crown that sits at 3 o’clock, and the coin edge central case.  The case might appear simple, but in fact it is quite complex, and is constructed with 42 parts, and quite eye catching with the electric blue CVD coating.  The aesthetic look of the watch is very uniform, and embraces the flying tourbillon in the open guilloche decorated dial, and semi-skeletonized movement.  The multi-part case is water resistant to 100 meters and has the sapphire display caseback.

Blue Is My Color

The detailed 42 part construction of the Chronoswiss Limited Edition Open Gear Tourbillon is mainly blue, but the different shades that are utilized really make it a beauty.  The dial for this timepiece is created with 10 different shades of blue, which allows for every facet of the guilloche and the brushed surfaces to stand out with extremely vivid details.  Layout of the dial is traditional for the brand, the 12 o’clock subdial is raised above the main surface on the exposed bridge, which really highlights the gear train and exposes the centerpiece of the lower layer at 6 o’clock.  Designed in silver tone, the flying tourbillon escapement is blended to perfection with the blue tones allowing the entire watch to be exqusite.  The entire watch is very well lumed and with an extra wide skeleton window you get a clear picture of the luxury movement surrounding the escapement.

Future Forward

The movement that is the heart of this Chronoswiss Limited Edition Open Gear Tourbillon is the caliber C.303 and even it receives the blue CVD treatment, coupled with the skeletonized plates and bridges the brushed blue colors provide a cohesive look for the timepiece.  The caliber provides a 60 hour power reserve and with the limited edition of 15 pieces, you know they will go fast.  Finished with a textured hornback crocodile leather strap in a bright royal blue the timepiece is exquisite.  Luxurious and limited, this tourbillon looks amazing on any wrist.
