Young and Creative

While not a brand that originated hundreds of years ago, Frederique Constant is relatively young, only 31 years old and yet one of the most creative brands the luxury horological industry has seen. In the three decades since introduction, the brand has created collections that have been well received and developed their own movements as well. In 2004 Constant debuted their first in-house base calibre, and the newest introduction the Classic Moonphase Watch debuts the 29th.

Phase Forward

Fifteen years later, in 2019, Frederique Constant’s collections have multiplied and a number of very impressive complications. The brand has designed moonphase, world-time, tourbillon, calendar, perpetual calendar, chronograph, power reserve and many others. This 29th calibre is a combination of moon phase and date, not new to the brand, and certainly one of the most classic of displays, it is still a signature piece. The Classic Moonphase Manufacture, a very elegant and balanced watch features hours, minutes and seconds on the central axis and split the two additional indications, date and moon in two sub-dials sitting at 3 o’clock for the moon and 9 o’clock for the date, with a single counter at 6 o’clock. Similar to the Slimline introduced in 2017 the split display has been enhanced, but Constant relies on designs that are loved and used.

Constant Classic

This luxury timepiece is surprising in the overall elegance yet classic beauty. Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase watch has been crafted in three versions, and priced at a fraction of most similar luxury timepieces.  The three designs are each exquisite in their own way. The first of the three is traditional, a combination of polished steel and a striking silver-colored grained dial adorned with black Roman numerals, hands and strap. Designed with quite an elegant rose gold-plated case and brown strap the second version has the same dial and hands as the steel watch. The third version has a more modern feel, with a polished steel case, a beautiful sunray blue dial and magnificent white numerals and hangs, and a blue strap. Each watch design embraces the exquisite craftsmanship of the brand, the 42mm diameter, smooth convex lines, hefty lugs and the onion-shaped crown. Maybe slightly larger than some of the dress watches, it is comfortable and very balanced on the wrist. The power reserve is at 38 hours, but each allows adjustments by the crown and visibility is offered through the caseback. A great value for this timepiece, and such evolution for the brand, allowing three choices that fit all lifestyles.
