The long standing relationship between Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux has been inspiring and admired by many. This latest design that is being released is the limited production run Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition Watch, a blend of sporty style and two new carbon composite materials. The new timepiece is made from carbon reclaimed from the racing team’s 2021 racing chassis, certainly dramatic and innovative, allowing each owner to wear a piece of sports history. Sleek and Sensational
The limited run timepiece debuted by Girard Perregaux is designed at 44mm wide with a light weight based on the unique material. The familiar angular form of the watch is manufactured from a proprietary blend of powdered titanium, resin and the reclaimed carbon elements from two of Aston Martin’s 2021 Formula 1 cars. The mix of these elements gives the case more of a matte look, and projects more of a gray and black tone. The black PVD titanium pushers were used to bring in a piece of the team trademark color scheme with beautiful lime green accent strips and really showcasing the British racing green for the 2 and 4 o’clock pushers. The team logo is printed atop the sapphire caseback giving the nod to Aston Martin.
Green Is The Color
The dial that is crafted for the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition keeps true to the style of the case and the tribute that is being brought to the racing team. The very rich metallic British racing green has been developed for the main dial surface, a sunburst finish that features an engraved diamond pattern crosshatch texture. This specific design element adds visual depth and a real complexity to the dial images. This stitch pattern stretches back to 1921 and the long history this relationship has had. The chronograph minutes hand and central chronograph seconds hand has been high-lighted with the lime green accent color to add another element to the dial that makes it pop. The chronograph seconds hand provides one last element to pay homage to the brand, it features a counterweight shaped to resemble the famous oval fender vents. A very striking and intricately finished dial, certainly fitting for such a fabulous timepiece.
Inside and Out
The heart of the Girard Perregaux Limited Run Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition Watch is the manufacture GPO3300-1058 automatic chronograph movement. Richly decorated by the brand, the movement is crafted with tight perlage across the base plate, blued screws, Cotes de Geneve and polished anglage for the bridges, and the engraved, gold inlaid winding rotor that is also topped with circular Cotes de Geneve. The 46 hour power reserve and 28,800 bph might not be spectacular but still impressive.
The Last Lap
The finishing touches of the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition is the strap that Girard-Perregaux introduced with yet another proprietary material. The strap is tapered, and integrated to the timepiece, and made from a material that the brand has called a rubber alloy, blending FKM rubber with some additional reclaimed carbon. While there is a technical and complex manufacturing process for this rubber alloy, the results are a soft and extremely durable product. The strap has a fabric effect that is of course the British racing green color, and ties the design and texture perfectly. With all the proprietary materials, the unique reclaimed carbon, the rich color and design integration, this timepiece is truly remarkable.
