Girard-Perregaux Unveils Limited Tourbillon With Three Flying Bridges - Aston Martin Edition Watch

Formula for Success

When you take two successful companies and combine them for a new partnership, you expect results.  Well with the fabulous Swiss watch giant, Girard Perregaux and a top car brand, Aston Martin, you certainly have the formula for success.  Announced in February they were forming a partnership everyone was excited to see the timepiece that would be dedicated to this endeavor.  Well here is the Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux watch, the limited Tourbillon with three flying bridges.  The timepiece is based on the modern Neo-Tourbillon concept but features the brands iconic mark, the three bridges.  The Swiss watch maker has a history of connection with the automotive world, making pocket watches for Shell since the 1930’s.  This new partnership will embrace two aspects, the Formula 1 racing and road cars.

Hot and Haute

The Girard-Perregaux Limited Tourbillon With Three Flying Bridges - Aston Martin Edition Watch is very much a modern design of Haute Horlogerie for the brand, and coupled with the car collection of Aston Martin that embraces the 1950’s/60’s iconic cars you can see why both of them are hot and haute.  Techological brilliance, striking design elements, the timepiece has combined the features that the brand is known for with the architectural movement vision of the future, making it contemporary, modern and exquisite.  Housing the watch in a large 44mm case that is constructed with grade 5 titanium and a black DLC coating.  Titanium was the perfect choice for this watch because of the lightweight properties and of course the car inspiration.  Girard-Perregaux has designed the timepiece shape with previous designs in mind, with soft curves and an uncluttered view of the inner workings.  The case has been crafted with a box-shaped sapphire crystal that is positioned to cover the entire tourbillon that includes the three flying bridges.  The construction is very sleek and impressive since the movement is such a important part of this timepiece.  The striking design element of the three bridges like the other elements of the movement and dial is that they are made of the blackened titanium and combined with matte and highly polished bevels, it is very elegant and exciting.  The two solid gold hands on the display have been treated in black as well and the indexes coated in luminescent material. A pleasing design like others in the Neo collection, allowing from top to bottom the view of barrels and bridges.

 A Well Oiled Machine

This creation that has been born with the new partnership is powered by the in house calibre GP09400-1683, a self winding movement.  If you flip the watch over you will find a micro-rotor made of white gold and sitting beneath the barrel, allowing for unobstructed views of this amazing movement.  Being very stealth, the car company name is visible only once, and very discreet.  As you search for the hidden name, it is engraved on the vertical flank of the micro-rotor, and filled in white Super-LumiNova so easier to spy it at night.  The Girard-Perregaux Limited Tourbillon With Three Flying Bridges - Aston Martin Edition Watch movement is expertly finished with modern surfaces and colors, traditional decoration featuring anglages and straight graining, with wheels that sport bevelled spokes and a barrel drum decorated with such meticulous detail it should be in a art museum.  Finished with a exquisite black alligator strap and triple folding clasp also in grade 5 titanium and DLC coating or a calf leather strap with innovative rubber insert injected with white gold, this timepiece is limted edition of only 18 pieces.  Certainly a watch with class and history.
