Ninety Isn’t Old
Two Thousand and Twenty One welcomes a host of things celebrating 90 years. The Star-Spangled Banner turns ninety, as well as the Empire State Building, and none other than baseball great Willie Mays. Also celebrating a longevity of ninety years is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. A classic horological timepiece, crafted in 1931, this watch was born like many amazing products out of necessity. The design was created with a unique hing dial that could flip over to protect the delicate crystal from perhaps a polo mallet. That being said, the watch is dressy, art deco inspired and sturdy. Considering that it celebrates ninety years with other very dominant figures should alone be enough to make it spectacular, but there are additional reasons.
Tribute To Mashup
Collaborations between Jaeger-LeCoultre and that legendary Argentinian make of polo boots, Casa Fagliano totally makes sense when you understand the mashup for the Reverso Tribute Duoface. Combining such amazing talents, bringing quality and quality together, creating pure classic style with the history of the Reverso, what else would one expect with the players. The rose gold case and hour markers provide a perfect contrast to the stunning red sunburst dial and finishing it with the textured burgandy leather strap created by the bootmaker, just delivers excellence. History provided the roadmap for this mashup since the timepiece was originally developed for polo players. When you have these amazing brands working together, already respected for their products it is not surprising that this collaboration is such a success.
Detailed Duo
This is not the first time the brands have worked together, in 2017 they crafted a beautiful two tone Cordovan strap and grey dial. This new timepiece follows that same blueprint, using a sunburst dial, a clous de Paris guilloche and each side bringing a personality of its own. The Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano Hands on takes details to the next level and just adds a new model that is fabulous but hard to compare with prior pieces which were also amazing. With only 190 pieces being crafted it will be difficult to acquire one for collectors. This new design is slightly larger at 47mm tall and 28mm wide. Texture is really prominent in this new timepiece, suede accents to help subdue the elegant aspects of the Duoface, but complementing the deco elements and giving the watch just enough rugged feel to dress it down.
Fans Flip Over It
The really fun aspects of this new Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso is when you unlock the case hinge and flip it. This new DuoFace Fagliano also offers not just an exceptional timepiece but a textured work of art, and a time display in both 12 and 24 hour formats. Powering this stunning watch is the calibre 854A/2, developed by the brand in 1994 specifically for the Reverso. Traditional in so many ways, but creative by the designers, and wanted by more than the 190 available pieces.
