Omega Unveils Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Watches in Gold

Olympic Watch

Omega has served as the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games since 1932, and continued moving into the 2021 Tokyo games.  The unveiling of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Watches in Gold should come as no surprise, helping them celebrate their 29th games.  The radiant yellow gold cases on these beauties comes in 38mm and 41mm.  The Tokyo Olympic Game emblem and the logo will also be embellished on the casebacks. Honoring the gold medal and the athletes that dedicate their lives to that moment, the brand pays tribute with these non-limited edition watches.

Keeping Time

The respected watch brand Omega released a special edition watch in honor of the Olympics that were suppose to happen in Tokyo 2020.  Due to COVID those games were postponed, but the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watches were unveiled in support and to show the inspiration the gold medal brings.  The blue textured dial stands out as a signature for this model, and while the two watches are visually close in design, there are several differences.  Both of the timepieces use the warm and elegant 18k yellow gold for the case, and the polished blue ceramic dials, laser engraved with a pattern that drew inspiration from the Tokyo Olympic Games emblem.  Transferred on the casebacks of the watches is the full emblem.

The different diameters of the timepieces is just one of the differences for the watches, they also come with different markers, tracks and hands.  The brand wanted a sportier and sharper design on the 41mm watch and then designed more triangular applied indexes, a trapezoidal date window, external minute track and sharp broad arrow hands.  Taking a softer approach on the 38mm edition the brand design has a drop shape applied indexes, a round date window, no external track, and a slim broad arrow hands.  Both gold models feature blue leather straps and are a perfect contrast for the polished blue ceramic dials.  To commemorate the true spirit of the Olympic Games the laser-engraved emblem on the timepieces makes a mark for history.

Race For The Gold

Both of these beautiful Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo watches are Master Chronometer certified and highly resistant to magnetic fields.  The heart of these watches are different, the 41mm beats by the Calibre 8901, featuring a larger and more powerful movement and a twin-barrel, 60h power reserve, while the 38mm is powered by the Calibre 8801, featuring a single barrel and a strong 55h power reserve.  Both are finished in a special presentation box.  While Omega recognizes the work and struggles these Olympians put in they try to capture the time in each exclusive design so that those gold medal winners will always remember Tokyo 2020/2021.
