Panerai Debuts The Luminor Luna Rossa PAM1342 Watch

Partners In Time

Panerai and Team Luna Rossa became official partners in 2017 and worked together to produce a number of limited edition timepieces.  Celebrating championship sailboat racing, the two brands are quite adept at being on the forefront of technology, utilization of high tech materials, optimal designs and embracing the future.  As they prepare for the 37th America’s Cup that will be held in Barcelona in 2024, Panerai has unveiled the new limited edition Luminor Luna Rossa PAM1342 Watch, an exquisite timepiece that introduces a more modern nautical style, a lighter color scheme, and some amazing features.

The Ship Has Sailed

At first glance the Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa PAM 1342 might seem similar to other models in the collection, and at the core of the watch that is very true.  The timepiece features a 44mm polished stainless steel case, that includes the collections signature lever operated crown protecting bridge which stands tall on the right hand side of the case.  Not a submersible watch, the bezel itself is simple, smooth and surrounds the sapphire crystal dome.  The very secure solid screw-down caseback does provide water resistance of 100 meters. In general the case is like most other models in the collection. The features that provide this timepiece with a stand alone personality come from the dial.

Light & Bright

While most of the watches in the partnership have been darker, and very nautically designed this has such a light and bright design, starting with a very crisp white surface.  The dial is so fresh, and laced with gray but enhanced with the Super-Luminova which enhances that light color profile.  The super-luminova is quite interesting as it glows green and easily gets that super power from light sources.  The entire palette of white, gray and red is the foundation for this versatile and more modern style that Panerai brought to life with the latest Luminor Luna Rossa PAM1342.

Inside and Out

This new timepiece is powered by the Caliber P.6000 movement, one of the brands manually-wound mechanical calibers comprised of 19 jewels, 110 components and runs at 21,600vph, while offering a 3 day power reserve.  Certainly Panerai has more powerful options and more advanced calibers, but that would mean a higher price point, and important to remember with this watch, this is a limited edition timepiece in partnership with Luna Rossa racing team, and so not a core model, but a piece that has significant meaning.  Affordable and amazing, the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM1342 is offered with two choices of bands, and a real catch for those nautical enthusiasts.
