Patek Philippe Unveils Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph Watch

Another First

Known by the name “Luce”, which means light in Italian, the fire ring of diamonds on the bezel brought inspiration for Patek Philippe’s latest Aquanaut “Rainbow” chronograph watch.  The brand extended the line with this new timepiece, and the first chronograph movement for the collection, and the first self-winding as well.  Certainly showcasing the creativity of the brand, and how unique the designs are as well as the exquisite beauty of this new watch.

Attractively Wearable

Men and women alike will find the 39.9mm wide, 18k rose gold case on this Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” chronograph very wearable and attractive on the wrist.  Anyone familiar with the Aquanaut line finds the tapering lugs, low wide crown, and rectangular pushers very much the same as other large Aquanauts, and the signature bezel really does feel like home.  This bezel has been crafted with a rainbow gem-set motif replacing the all-diamond designs of the past.  However, this watch combines both the rainbow gems and diamonds to deliver a twin creation that is exquisite. The timepiece features an outer row of stones that is comprised of 40 colored sapphires that provide a rainbow spectrum around the dial, and embracing an inner row of 40 baguette cut diamonds, a masterpiece of design.  The brand completes the case with a sapphire display case back.

Power Of Color

The surrounding beauty of the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” chronograph extends the gem designs to the dial with 12 beautiful sapphires in an array of colors, set to flank the applied 18k gold Arabic numerals.  The line of Aquanaut’s broad engraved grid style dial texture continues with this latest model crafted on a base of white mother of pearl.  As with the other models, the brand has a single 60 minute register at 6 o’clock really offering a clean layout for the running seconds or the chronograph hours sub dial.  The brand has presented this new watch with the powerful Caliber CH28-520 vertical clutch automatic chronograph movement.  Decorated in the style you would expect with Côtes de Genève on the upper bridges, and the lower bridges and baseplate crafted in two very distinct sizes of perlage, mirror polished sinks and anglage, with a 21k engraved yellow gold rotor topped by radial Côtes de Genève.  Included with the heart of this timepiece is the Gyromax balance and a Silinvar balance spring, that features a 45 to 55 hour power reserve at 28,800 bph rate.

Favorite Finish

Patek Philippe finishes the Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph with a trio of textured rubber straps, a bright red, a clean bright white, and a lovely matte beige.  The first ever automatic chronograph the brand has marketed to women, offers the versatile sizing, fabulous presentation, and really a favorite for men and women.  So bring a little color to your world, surround yourself with gems that sparkle, and light up your life.
