Romain Jerome Space Invaders - Keep Time in Style with a Little Bit of Moon Dust

As of June 2012, the much anticipated Romain Jerome Space Invaders collection has been in the public eye for slightly over a year now. It's part of the Mood Dust DNA collection, which initially only released prototypes of the new watches. For the most part, the actual pieces are very similar to what they were intended to look like. There are a few minor differences that can be spotted in the finished collection; however, to the casual eye, they appear almost exact with the exception of a few parts that connect the watch to the wrist strap.

One of the key features of the Romain Jerome Space Invaders watch collection is the unique way the inner parts have been designed. In an effort to preserve the comfort that the RJ timepieces are renowned for, the ball joints that join the wrist strap to the lugs are coated with a special layer of Teflon. Without this coating, the bearings would stick and the piece would no longer be nearly as functional as other pieces of the same caliber. This Teflon coating is actually part of the reason why the release of the collection was delayed for longer than anticipated, mostly due to the fact that it took some very talented engineering to pull off.

The way that the Romain Jerome Space Invaders watch collection looks appeals to a select niche of collectors in that the pieces are very streamlined and modern in appearance. As their name implies, they are intended to look as though they are part of the moon lander vehicles, and they have a very technology-oriented vibe about them. Like many other watches that are released under Romain Jerome watch collections, the Space Invaders line is limited to less than 2,000 models. Although this is more than some RJ commemorative collections, it is still a limited enough release that the value of these pieces will only increase in the future.

Romain Jerome Space Invaders watches can be found in a few different types of metals, including 18k gold and steel, which give the wearer a very sophisticated look. This is especially true when you take the unique metal mesh appearance of the watch's face and arm band into account. Unlike many other designer watches, these pieces convey their elegance through the very minimalistic inclusion of detail - something that is only accentuated by the unique overall texture that each watch is given.
