The design features are unique for the timepiece and have long set this piece apart from other similar watches. When the brand decided to provide this new version, they wanted to focus on the aesthetics of the piece, and keep all the other exceptional framework intact. With a horological history of 170 years the brand has been manufacturing exceptional and highly precise nautical chronometers,sporting the unique anchor logo. Certainly a leader in the Swiss watchmaking world, the brand designs beautiful and highly complicated timepieces.
Looking at the changes made to this 2014 refreshed model of the Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver, the one most obvious is the case. The 44 mm stainless steel case doesn't have the angular look like the previous collections, this one is constructed with a more organic look, the lugs are flared, and are elegantly curved, giving an overall more refined finish. The crown protectors also look more eloqueent, they flow with the shape of the case, and the crown itself is now covered in rubber, providing a better grip and certainly an overall more sporty look.
Other modifications to the design were directed to the dial and the bezel, featured in black or blue, with the wave pattern, a trademark design that has been a staple for this collection and brand since the inception. The bezel change has been created with framed numerals, especially the ten-minute markings, allowing for easier readability. To make sure legibility is a main focus the dial has also been modified, displaying very visible red markings directly in the center of the indices as well as on the hour and minute hands.
The new design is updated for a more modern feel, a cleaner look, and a great addition to the collections. This latest Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver still has the UN-26 on the inside, and the ETA 2892A2 is brand specific, allowing for the highest standards and quality anyone could ask for. The expert swirls of Cotes de Geneve striping, and gorgeous circular graining, in addition to the custom UN rotor. This piece is finished with a rubber strap that matches the color of the dial and bezel or a beautiful steel bracelet.
