Color My World
Colors are always an attraction for clothing, design elements, and so it is no surprise that watch design is incorporating that as well. Rainbow watches might have started as a trend but have become quite popular in the industry. Luxury brands have introduced a number of beautiful designs, mixed with precious or exotic metals. Zenith has introduced the Limited Edition Defy 21 Chroma Watch using a fabulous vibrant color scheme to bring the attention to this amazing timepiece. The 44mm case is a eye catching matte white ceramic, and provides a spectacular foundation for the colorful inner workings.
Colorful Contrasts
So taking a closer look at this new Zenith Defy 21 Chroma can provide great insight to the timepiece. The semi-integrated case has magnificent geometric facets and the crafting of the broad rectangular pushers really highlight the 3 o’clock crown matte blasted in titanium. The striking bright yellow accent ring surrounding the gear teeth of the crown is the first pop of color that grabs you when you see the timepiece. The series features a 100 meter water resistance and while you might think the optic-white color palette is not colorful enough, the brand has added colorful elements accenting the watch rather than over taking it. The indices on this beauty establish a great color palette for the dial, starting with a deep red at 12 o’clock and transitioning to a sunny yellow at 3 o’clock, gently introducing the royal blue at 6 o’clock and softly adding the rich violet at 9 o’clock. The attention to detail on this watch is exquisite and Zenith has really laid the palette to perfection.
Fade To White
As the face of the watch creates the rainbow of color and transitions with true brilliance from one to the next, the outer 1/100 second chronograph scale showcases that seamless color change. You notice the orange 2 o’clock index that how that flows to the yellow 3 o’clock with just a warm tone that moves as colors blend and change before your eyes. The color gradient is a true tribute to the Zenith brand and their detail in craftsmanship. The movement bridges that are visible beneath the skeleton dial are PVD coated in unique colors, they really accent the mainspring barrel, balance wheel, and gear train. With all that color you would expect the in house El Primero 9004 automatic chronograph movement to really light up and certainly it is a flagship for performance. The advanced 1/100-second mechanical chronograph hand on the 9004 is quite unique and precise. Performance, precision, and power drive the Defy 21 Chroma and bring color to your life. Finished with a fabric-effect white rubber strap the entire look of this timepiece is just vivacious and filled with a world of bright hues.
